#mylatestprintedpicture
This book represents a vital part of the project. Whenever I meet an interesting person, along with a short interview, I take two identical exposures: one goes for each participant, the other one - for me. I use mine to make a digital reproduction for Web and project design. The second one not only follows the original idea of sharing instant photography but also will become a cover image of the book for that particular person. Yes, you’ve heard me right: each book of the project “My Latest Printed Picture” will hold its own picture, with no repetitions. The special design of the cover allows you to place your Polaroid with any double-sided tape. It makes this project very interactive: when the actual book is out - you can place the image I gave you on the cover!
⠀By realizing this project I’m exploring trends of our society on storing visual memories and creating a unique experience of direct involvement in a creative process. Also, for every person involved, it gives a unique opportunity to get a published book that has its own personalized image on the cover. Quite an experience, right?! Given the fact that seeing your face on the cover of anything except your childhood photo album is mostly the prerogative of famous people, for good or for worse.
⠀ While flipping through the pages and reading stories I have managed to collect so far I've realized that they have so many things in common. Printed photography turned out to cultivate not uniqueness and narcissism but solidarity and the feeling of community. In the face of the fragile beauty of trivial life, we are all the same: kissing our partners, hugging our parents, starting at the sunset above a holiday sea.
⠀ At the same time, each of those pictures in the book, at some point in the work process, will represent by itself the "Latest Printed Picture" that I've made. For me, as for the author of this book, it is not gonna have a final image on the cover till I’m done with shooting. Each new hero - that’s my latest printed image.
